Incident Description:
On April 22, 2021, Täglicher Anzeiger reported a deflagration at a flavour and nutrition additives plant in Holzminden, Germany. Area residents later reported hearing a loud, dull bang.
The resulting fire activated the sprinkler system, and both the plant fire brigade and Holzminden fire brigade worked together to extinguish the fire.
Production equipment was damaged, but no injuries were reported.
Research Update:
On June 29, 2021, Neue Westfalische reported that the explosion caused two million euros in damage and halted production for several weeks. The cause was believed to be a discharge in a glass column.
