Paper Mill Fire Description:
On May 3, 2018, at 7 pm, the Observer-Reporter reported a fire at the International Paper plant on Wilson Road, in North Strabane. Firefighting crews from Canonsburg, Peters Township and Washington departments were all sent to the scene. Local police and Canonsburg Ambulance were also present on site.
According to North Strabane Fire Department Capt. the contents of dust collector ignited, and the flames spread to the roof of the building. Some sections of the roof melted as a result, but no other serious damages were reported. The blaze was extinguished within two hours. There was no information about injuries and the cause of the fire remains unknown.
