Incident Description:
On March 2, 2023, La Nouvelle Union reported a fire at a tissue products plant in Kingsey Falls, Quebec.
Firefighters received the call at 9:30 a.m. after employees noticed a fire in one of the machines. Company firefighters attempted to control it before the fire brigade arrived.
According to the director of the Fire Safety Service, overheating of various machine components and the presence of accumulated dust caused the fire to break out after the machine stopped. Over a dozen firefighters worked together to put it out and check the ventilation system on the roof where the fire had started to spread.
The firefighters’ response lasted about two hours. No injuries were reported.
