Incident Description:
On August 5, 2021, WFMZ reported a fire at a nut and candy processing plant in Ephrata, Pennsylvania.
The fire was reported at around 6:30 p.m. By then, flames and thick, black smoke had engulfed the building and were billowing high into the sky. According to WGAL 8, firefighters said there were reports of an explosion before the fire.
According to county dispatchers, at least 25 fire companies responded to the incident, and four alarms were issued for additional manpower and resources.
Officials said the warehouse building was burned to the ground. Crews remained on the scene until almost 4:00 a.m.
No injuries were reported. The fire’s cause remains unknown.
