Incident Description:
On May 25, 2021, Stuff.co.nz reported a fire at a wood pellet production facility in Brightwater, New Zealand.
When firefighters arrived at midnight, the fire was well under way. Two appliances initially responded, but soon two more trucks were required, along with an aerial appliance that supported better access to the flames.
The manager warned that there was a risk of dust explosion from the wood products, so fire crews shot water onto the flames from the outside and the ladder truck. They worked through the night to put the fire out. By 7:00 a.m., only a few firefighters remained on site to wet down hot spots.
No injuries were reported.
