Incident Description:
On July 28, 2018, the Argus Observer reported a major fire at a historic feed mill in Vale, Oregon. Flames and thick black smoke were seen issuing from the building at around 2:45 p.m., sending fire crews immediately to the site.
The Deputy State Fire Marshal later said that the blaze appeared to have started from a high position, as it was first seen around some structural beams near the product bins on the east side of the building. The Vale Fire Chief added that 20 tons of milling equipment fell on top of grain inside the mill during the fire.
No one was in the mill at the time, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was later listed as accidental/undetermined.
