On September 27, 2018, local news resource Aachener-Nachrichten reported a fire at an electric vehicle manufacturer in Aachen, Germany. When crews arrived, they located the fire in the facility’s heating system. They were able to extinguish it quickly, but a strong odour remained in the area for a while afterward.
A spokesperson for the fire department said that heating system fires were a “typical problem” at this time of year. Now that the weather has cooled, many buildings were activating their heating systems for the first time after several months, with fires occasionally occurring.
