Incident Description:
On August 21, 2022, CTV News reported a fire at a grain processing facility in Newbury, Ontario.
More than 50 fire fighters from Newbury Fire, Brooke-Alvinston Fire, and South West Middlesex Fire Department (SWMFD) responded and poured 73,500 gallons of water onto the fire through the night.
According to witnesses, one silo was 60 feet high and the flames were at the top, creating a glow that could be seen for kilometres.
The owner confirmed that he had lost 400 square bales of hay, three silos, and two barns. There were no injuries, but damage was estimated at $2 million Canadian. The fire is believed to have started in the feed room.
