Incident Description:
On May 25, 2022, NBC Right Now reported a silo explosion at a grain processing company in Prosser, Washington.
A grain silo caught fire and exploded at around 8:00 p.m. Witnesses said the fire spread to the next door feed and supply store. According to the Tri-City Herald, the fireball lit up the area and sent a huge plume of smoke into the sky.
Approximately 22 fire units from various fire agencies in the valley responded to the old feed store and grain elevator, where flames could be seen shooting into the sky.
The roads outside were closed as crews worked to put out the fire. The grain elevator crashed to the ground about two hours after the fire started.
There was one injury reported, involving an employee who called 911 to report the explosion. He was taken to the hospital.
