Incident Description:
On July 28, 2023, Le Courrier du Vietnam reported an explosion at an agricultural cooperative in Palotina, Brazil.
Six bodies were recovered from the wreckage of the collapsed silo on the day of the incident, while two were confirmed dead immediately after the explosion on July 26. Additionally, around ten individuals sustained injuries. The victims were located in a tunnel connecting various sections of the silo during the explosion. At the time, workers from the cooperative, Parana’s second-largest, were performing maintenance tasks.
The blast was so powerful that its noise resonated for several kilometres and windows of surrounding structures shattered. To aid in search and recovery efforts, 35 firefighters and rescue dogs were dispatched to the scene.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
