Incident Description:
On January 3, 2023, KCCI reported a fire inside a grain silo in Garden City, Iowa. According to reports, it had been burning since before Christmas.
The elevator fed six silos, which were normally filled with grain. When those materials self-combusted around December 21, the Radcliffe Fire Department was called for assistance. By January 3, the fire was only smouldering, but Radcliffe fire crews were on standby in case it flared up while salvage crews removed the grain manually.
No injuries were reported.
