Incident Description:
On March 2, 2023, KCRG reported an explosion and fire at a corn processing plant in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
An explosion occurred on top of the grain elevators shortly after 7:00 p.m. All employees were moved out of the hazard area, so that firefighters could get to work. They reported that there was still a smouldering grain fire in one or more of the silos the following day, so they worked together with company staff to handle the situation.
No injuries were reported.
