Incident Description:
On August 21, 2020, the Post-News reported a smoldering fire at an animal feed and nutrition company in De Motte, Indiana.
Keener Fire and Wheatfield Fire Departments responded after receiving a call at approximately 1:00 a.m. They arrived to find smoke issuing from a grain hopper.
Upon investigation, they found smoldering material inside the structure, so firefighters sprayed water to dampen the fire before opening the hopper to allow the contents to be spread out and the fire to be extinguished.
The road outside the facility was closed during the three hours that fire crews were on the scene.
No injuries were reported.
