Incident Description:
On December 30, 2020, Feed & Grain reported an explosion at a feed and grain business located in Weimar, Texas.
The sound of the explosion could be heard from miles away. According to the CEO, an overheated bearing in one of the elevator legs sparked and ignited the dust particles in the stack.
According to the Colorado County Citizen, water lines were run up the tower and the overheated bearing was cooled down. Firefighters ran a water hose from the fire hydrant on the main road and connected to a stand-pipe on the side of the tower. The water was pressurized by a fire truck up to the firefighters on the elevator tower.
Everyone was evacuated safely. No injuries and no major damage were reported.
