Incident Description:
On August 6, 2023, G1 Globo reported a fire at a feed manufacturer in Ponta Grossa, Brazil.
The fire engulfed a soybean dryer containing about 40 tons of grain. Ten firefighters with two trucks were dispatched, and they took roughly five hours to douse the flames- due to the silo’s large size, its height, and potential spread risks, the containment was challenging.
An initial assessment by firefighters suggested the fire might have ignited due to the dryer’s overheating. Nevertheless, a thorough inspection by an expert is needed to determine the exact cause.
No injuries were reported.
