Located north of Merrill, Iowa on 57 acres of land, it also produces approximately 175,000 tons of wet and dried distillers grains for sale to livestock and feedlot operations throughout the country.
Description of Grain Dust Fire:
On February 12, 2018, KSCJ reported a fire at an ethanol plant in Merrill, Iowa. The source was later identified as a grain dryer that had caught on fire.
Firefighters from Merrill and Le Mars battled the blaze, which broke out shortly after midnight, for nearly four hours before bringing it under control. According to local resource Siouxland News, the freezing temperatures caused some firefighting equipment to experience issues.
There were no reported injuries and the amount of property damage is unknown.
