Incident Description:
On February 5, 2019, Powder & Bulk Solids reported a fire at a cereal production plant in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Arriving firefighters found the fire in a duct system connected to a piece of drying equipment in the building. They succeeded in preventing it from spreading to the dryer.
According to a representative of the Jonesboro Fire Department, there were no injuries and the plant resumed operations the next day.
Previous Incidents:
On February 14, 2005, Firehouse reported a fire at the Post Cereal-Kraft Foods plant in Jonesboro. Witnesses said that at one point flames shot into the air as smoke issued from the roof, but firefighters stated that the fire was contained to a single boiler room on the building’s third floor. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire was not immediately known.
