Incident Description:
On October 1, 2020, the Daily Journal reported a silo fire at a grain processing facility in Bargersville, Indiana.
The Bargersville Community Fire Department and White River Township Fire Department responded to the fire, which occurred in a silo just before 9:00 p.m. When crews arrived, they found flames rising out of the top of the grain dryer. They used two ladder trucks with high volume water streams to contain the fire to one silo and extinguish it in about 45 minutes.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it is suspected that loose corn debris may have caused a malfunction in the dryer. No injuries were reported, but the dryer was damaged.
