Incident Description:
On September 15, 2022, the Journal Gazette & Times-Courier reported a grain bin fire at a farm in Neoga, Illinois.
Neoga Fire Protection District reported that its crew and Sigel’s were dispatched to a reported grain handling equipment fire at 9:41 am. Firefighters arrived to find light smoke emanating from the grain bin approximately 130 feet above ground. Afterwards, they cooled the fire by running water up the grain elevator leg in the same manner as grain is loaded into the bins.
It was discovered that a dust explosion occurred before 911 was called. No injuries were reported.
