Incident Description:
On June 8, 2023, the Daily Gazette reported an explosion at a flour production facility in Mistley, UK.
Firefighters from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service responded to a call at around 3:30 pm. The incident involved conveyor equipment, which is designed to release in case of a pressure build-up, resulting in the dispersal of dust clouds.
To investigate the situation, firefighters collaborated with crews from Suffolk, including the Urban Search and Rescue team. Their primary objective was to ensure the scene’s safety and confirm the absence of fire or hotspots within the machinery.
Utilizing thermal imaging cameras and an aerial ladder platform, firefighters from Colchester and Ipswich inspected the area. By 4:38 pm, they had dismantled sections of the machinery to cool down the scene.
No injuries were reported.
