On March 15, 2019, Powder & Bulk Solids reported a fire at a dairy products plant in Estcourt, South Africa.
The Okahlamba Chief Fire said that firefighters got the call about the incident at 4:55 p.m. and reached the site at around 5:30 p.m. They found the powdered milk storage area completely engulfed. The situation was made even more difficult by the continuous collapse of the roof and wall structures.
Officials believed that the fire started on the fifth floor of a production area. After the flames were extinguished, only three facility departments remained intact.
Workers on site were forced to evacuate. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
