Incident Description:
On October 23, 2020, Oil & Fats International reported an explosion at a soybean processing facility in Puerto General San Martín, Argentina.
Although the company did not confirm how much damage the plant incurred, market and trade sources reported that the explosion had taken place in a drying unit at the 10,000 tons/day crusher. It was not believed to be in operation at the time of the incident due to a 24-hour strike at the facility.
No injuries were reported but offers for soy meal and oil both increased by 2-3% the day after the incident.
