Incident Description:
On September 19, 2018, Powder & Bulk Solids reported a dust explosion and fire at a paving construction plant in Parkes, Australia. Firefighters were called to the facility at about 7:30 a.m. The external paint on the dust extractor caught fire and was quickly extinguished by employees while fire crews provided cooling for the site.
Officials stated that dust and leaking diesel fuel were probably the cause of the explosion. According to the Parkes Champion-Post, the plant was shut down while the damage was assessed.
No injuries were reported and the value of any property damage is unknown.
