Incident Description:
On October 16, 2023, E-Know reported a fire at a sawmill in Radium Hot Springs, British Columbia.
Firefighters were called to the mill at midday on October 11 following reports of a fire at the facility. The Radium Hot Springs Fire Department stated on social media that upon arrival, crews found a fire in a structure used for storing wood shavings and dust collection.
Engines 1203 and 1201 responded to the fire, bringing eight firefighters to fight the flames. However, the complexity of the situation prompted the team on the ground to request additional assistance.
Recognizing the need for more extensive resources, the fire department issued a mutual aid request. Support arrived promptly from the Columbia Valley Rural Fire & Rescue Services, notably including their aerial ladder truck, a crucial asset in the efforts to extinguish the flames.
No injuries were reported.
