Incident Description:
On June 6, 2023, TVO reported a fire at a model train producer in Neustadt, Germany.
According to police reports, on June 5 a 69-year-old individual was utilizing a laser cutting machine to create model railway accessories when, shortly after 4:00 p.m., they discovered a fire in the attic of their property. The blaze originated from a dust collector system connected to the laser cutting machine, likely ignited by flying sparks that ignited the accumulated dust within the facility.
They managed to suppress the flames using a handheld fire extinguisher but experienced mild smoke inhalation in the process. By the time the Neustadt bei Coburg, Wildenheid fire brigades, and the Prysmian works fire brigade arrived at the scene, only smoke was visible.
The police estimated the damage to the system to be at least 10,000 euros, with no structural damage to the building itself.
