On June 12, 2019, SurfKY reported a fire at a metal and electronics recycling company in Madisonville, Kentucky.
When Madisonville Fire Department crews responded shortly after noon, the fire was visible at the bottom of a bolted man door on a steel tower that collects metal dust.
Workers were using a hose to cool the bag stack. After they left the area, firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to check ductwork in the building. They determined that the fire was confined and had not spread into the building.
After extinguishing it from the top of the tower, the firefighters left approximately two hours later. No injuries were reported.
