Incident Description:
On July 7, 2023, Fireworld.At reported a fire at an aluminum processing facility in Lilienfeld, Austria.
On the evening of July 6, 2023, a fire broke out in the waste container of an extraction system at the facility. It originated from aluminum dust within the extraction system.
As soon as the employees noticed the fire, they immediately activated a manual alarm device to alert the fire brigade. They also took action to try to contain the fire on their own. The Lilienfeld, Schrambach, Traisen Markt, and Hainfeld fire brigades were summoned, along with the BTF Neuman Marktl, which dispatched its telescopic mast platform. The fire was eventually brought under control using several special metal fire powder extinguishers.
During the initial firefighting attempts, three employees sustained minor injuries from the intense thermal effects of the aluminum fire.
