On December 16, 2018, CHCH News reported an early-morning fire at a freight car manufacturer in Hamilton, Ontario.
By the time firefighters arrived, the building’s sprinkler system had the situation under control but crews had to open the dust collector and remove the filter to put out the fire. Fire officials believed that a spark ignited combustible materials in the dust collection system.
No injuries were reported. Property damage is estimated at $750,000.
