Incident Description:
On July 20, 2023, CapeCod.com reported a fire at an exterior home components manufacturer in Brewster, Massachusetts.
At 4:08 p.m. the Brewster Fire was called to the scene, following reports of fire and dense smoke coupled with sprinkler activation. Upon arrival, firefighters observed thick smoke emanating from a vast steel commercial building where the sprinklers had been activated.
Additional fire departments from Harwich, Dennis, Orleans, Eastham, and Chatham were summoned to the scene as part of a working fire assignment. The firefighters connected the sprinkler system supply and extended hose lines into the building. They discovered the fire’s origin within a wood dust collection system located in the structure’s southwest corner.
Following the incident, both the Brewster Building Commissioner and Electrical Inspector were on-site and deemed the building inoperative until necessary repairs to the structure and its electrical system were made.
No injuries were reported.
