Incident Description:
On October 22, 2018, the St. Albert Gazette reported an early-morning fire at a grain terminal outside Morinville, Alberta.
When firefighters arrived, they found 30-foot flames shooting out of the top of one of the silos. It took them about five hours to extinguish the fire, which was believed to have been sparked by a grain dryer. Most of the 40 tons of canola in the silo were saved and moved to a different unit.
The grain facility manager said that the fire was spotted by an employee. It caused no injuries and minimal losses.
