Incident Description:
On November 11, 2018, the Lansing State Journal reported a fire at an agricultural facility in Mason, Michigan.
Fire crews from several departments converged at the site soon after the fire was reported at around 1:00 a.m. The facility manager later told WILX10 that an employee was monitoring the grain dryer’s temperature when the power suddenly went out. The employee saw smoke and called 911.
The fire was contained to the grain dryer, which is fueled by natural gas and holds about 1,200 bushels of corn, and soon extinguished. While the firefighters worked, a section of Columbia Street was closed between Lansing and State Streets.
No injuries were reported. The value of any property damage is unknown.
