Incident Description:
On January 17, 2023, CBC reported an explosion at a distillery in Calgary, Alberta.
At approximately 1:20 p.m., fire crews responded to reports of an explosion at the site. A smoke plume could be seen from the Highfield 16 Fire Station, several blocks away. The explosion occurred in the ductwork located on the roof of the building’s “dry house area,” or “brewing area.”
Following the activation of the fire alarm system, approximately 100 employees were evacuated from the site.
No injuries were reported. Damage was limited to a large vessel and ductwork on the roof.
