On August 22, 2023, Kazinform reported a fire at a coal mine in Karaganda, Kazakhstan.
The fire erupted on August 17 at 10:05 a.m. while 227 miners were underground. 222 were safely evacuated, but five miners lost their lives. Their bodies were recovered and identified.
