Incident Description:
On July 29, 2021, Sandhills Express reported a smouldering coal fire at an agricultural processor in Columbus, Nebraska.
When employees discovered smoldering coal in a storage dome, they called the fire department. Afterward, they worked with a hazard control company to monitor the situation and extinguish any remaining hot spots.
Residents in the immediate vicinity were encouraged to take precautions against possible carbon monoxide exposure.
No injuries were reported.
