Incident Description:
On June 11, 2021, Feuerwehr reported an explosion in a lecture hall at a university in Erlangen, Germany.
The incident occurred during an inorganic chemistry experiment. Course participants immediately evacuated while university security staff worked with the city volunteer fire brigade to neutralize the leaked substance with a spray jet. They collected the remaining dust particles in a container. After extensive ventilation, the site was turned back over to the university.
Rescue services were on site alongside an emergency doctor, the operations manager, three ambulances and a KTW. There were two injured people, one of which was taken to the university medical clinic. The other person was treated on site.
