Incident Description:
On August 22, 2023, General Anzeiger reported a fire at a carpentry shop in Rauschendorf, Germany.
Reports from GA state that the fire, which began in a chip storage bunker and a wood chip extraction and filtering system at the carpentry shop, proved challenging to control. Firefighters took a cautious approach to avoid sparking open flames.
Firefighting teams from Bockeroth, Oelberg, Uthweiler, and Oberdollendorf responded, bringing with them equipment including a turntable ladder and a drone to identify potential hotspots beneath the roof and on a chimney. Initially, they managed to remove the wood chips from the bunker. However, tackling the fire in the extraction and filtering system posed greater challenges, with efforts to extinguish it persisting into the afternoon.
No injuries were reported.
