On September 21, 2023, the Daily Bulldog reported a fire at a specialty wood products company in Kingfield, Maine.
At approximately 10:45 a.m., the Kingfield Fire Department, along with mutual aid allies, rushed to a fire alert at the facility. Upon reaching the location, the team discovered a sawdust fire in the mill’s bag house. The Fire Chief speculated that it might have been ignited by a spark or a smouldering piece of wood which got transported into the bag house via the blower system.
At the scene, Kingfield Fire received support from New Portland Fire, Carrabassett Valley Fire, Strong Fire, Phillips Fire, Farmington Fire, and NorthStar Ambulance.
By 2:15 p.m., all teams had vacated the site. No injuries were reported.
