Incident Description:
On June 13, 2020, DurhamRegion.com reported a fire at a steel mill in Whitby, Ontario.
The fire issued heavy black smoke that could be seen from several kilometers away. Firefighters arrived at the mill at around 6:00 p.m. and had the fire under control quickly. They were only on scene for about half an hour.
According to the Whitby Deputy Fire Chief, the fire started in a berm containing metal shavings and was likely caused by materials smouldering.
No injuries were reported.
