Incident Description:
On February 19, 2020, KMALand reported a fire in the exterior processing stacks at a grain processing facility in Red Oak, Iowa.
The Red Oak Fire Department received notification of the fire at 5:39 p.m. and arrived 10 minutes later. They remained on the scene for nearly two hours.
The Fire Chief said that the cause of the fire was a malfunction in a computerized processing system, which caused processed grain product to overheat. Although the fire was confined to the outside stacks, there was a significant amount of damage.
No injuries were reported.
