Incident Description:
On February 14, 2020, The Star reported a conveyor-belt fire at a metal casting facility in Auburn, Indiana.
Auburn firefighters arrived at 12:11 p.m. and saw smoke coming from an overhead garage door at the rear of the building. They found that a 50-foot-long conveyor belt approximately 12 feet off the floor had caught fire.
Company employees were fighting the flames using fire extinguishers. Firefighters completed extinguishing the fire with a hose line, and the fire was brought under control at 12:19 p.m. They remained in the scene to extinguish a few hidden fires found beneath the conveyor belt.
No injuries were reported.
