Description of Malting Plant Fire:
On January 31, 2018, Powder Bulk Solids reported a dust fire at a malting plant in Grantham, England, UK. One of the firefighters who responded said that the fire was believed to originate in one of the hoppers on the seventh floor of the building.
Fire crews remained on scene fighting the fire until the next morning. Several police cars and an ambulance were also at the site and the road was closed in both directions for several hours.
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue told the Grantham Journal that the fifth and sixth floors of the plant experienced severe fire damage while smoke damage affected the seventh and eighth floors.
According to the police, the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation but it does not appear to be suspicious. There were no injuries reported.
