Incident Description:
On November 15, 2019, the FDL Reporter reported a fire outside a dairy farm near Alto, Wisconsin.
Firefighters responded shortly after an employee reported the fire at 4:40 a.m. It is believed to have started at around 4:00 a.m., when there were 1,500 bushels of corn inside it, valued at $60,000.
The dairy owners later confirmed that at 11:30 p.m. the night before, a wireless sensor in the grain dryer noted “an overheat.”
No one was injured in the fire but property damage was valued at $210,000, as the corn and the dryer were a total loss.
