Incident Description:
On October 18, 2019, the Ross-Shire Journal reported a fire at a whiskey distillery in Dingwall, Scotland, UK.
The fire ignited at 3:53 p.m in a biomass storage room containing 8 tons of woodchip. Three fire teams arrived and opened the main hatch to the wood chip silo to fight the fire.
A company representative reported that a lot of smoke continued to issue from the silo, so they were going to empty as much wood chip as possible to prevent it from continuing to smoulder and burn. The representative added that the building was attached to the distillery, but there were firewalls and other measures to protect it.
Four employees were working nearby at the time, but no one was injured.
