Incident Description:
On July 26 2019, Rojas Cuidad reported a July 25 silo explosion at a cereal plant in Rojas, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The impact of the explosion, which occurred at 8:20 a.m., was felt in the city. Volunteer firefighters and an ambulance went to the scene immediately and found that the explosion occurred in an area of the silo where grain was being unloaded.
Rojas Democracia specified that the incident took place in the pipes that pass under the silos and transport cereal. Local sources indicated that the explosion happened during hot work activities when a worker attempted to douse a smoldering fire with a bucket of water and disbursed the dust.
Four men were injured in the primary and secondary explosions. Two of the men had type A burns, which are characterized as the mildest, while the other two were admitted to the hospital with severe burns in their airways and burns affecting 30% of their bodies.
