Incident Description:
On July 15, 2019, WCIA reported a fire at a soybean processing facility in Decatur, Illinois.
The fire broke out at approximately 8:30 p.m. Employees evacuated the facility and called the Decatur Fire Department for assistance.
Fire crews responded at about 10:38 p.m. and advanced a line into the warehouse to begin extinguishing the fire. Dozens of smoldering wood pallets were taken out and the building was ventilated. According to the Herald & Review, the fire was controlled by 12:34 a.m.
No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at around $100,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Previous Incidents:
Firefighters responded to a fire at the facility on May 14, 2019, which occurred in the corn plant feedhouse. They determined that hot maintenance work on a piece of drying equipment caused the fire.
