Incident Description:
On May 1, 2019, Powder & Bulk Solids reported a fire at a wood pellet production plant in Williams Lake, British Columbia.
Emergency personnel called to the site saw smoke and dust coming from the building. Employees had already attempted to put out the fire, which had started in the dryer system and spread to piping and fans inside the facility.
According to the Williams Lake Tribune, fire crews fought the flames by using their aerial truck deliver 1,200 gallons per minute for approximately 70 minutes. The fire was out by the early afternoon.
City officials asked the public to avoid the area to allow emergency services to do their work. No injuries were reported.
