Incident Description:
On March 17, 2019, the Post Star reported a fire at a tissue mill in South Glens Falls, New York.
Firefighters from multiple departments responded to the incident, which was initially reported as a fire in a conveyor. They arrived at around 10:00 p.m. and remained until 1:00 a.m.
No exterior damage was evident. A PR company later issued a statement reporting that the building was not damaged and its sprinkler system was activated when an electrical junction box shorted and caused a fire along the tray below the roof.
The facility was evacuated as a precaution and no injuries were reported.
Previous Incidents:
The press noted that six small machine fires had taken place at the mill between 2007 and 2012, but no coverage of these incidents could be located.
