Incident Description:
On February 1, 2019, 1011 Now reported an explosion and fire at a soybean processing facility in Lincoln, Nebraska.
A passerby saw fire and smoke issuing from the plant and called Lincoln Fire and Rescue, which arrived at around 11:30 p.m. on January 31. Representatives later stated that a small equipment explosion had occurred but the plant’s fire suppression system was able to handle it. According to the Lincoln Journal-Star, fire crews used a ladder truck and infrared-imaging cameras to confirm the fire hadn’t spread elsewhere in the building.
Three workers were sent to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. No information about property damage was available, although the fire was contained to a small part of the plant.
