Incident Description:
On October 12, 2018, West Seattle Blog reported a mid-afternoon fire at a steel plant in Seattle, Washington. When fire crews arrived shortly before 2:30 p.m., they reported that the problem appeared to involve “titanium dust from a printer” and that “this is a known ongoing issue.”
An onsite extinguisher was used to contain the fire, and by 2:40 p.m. all but three of the firefighting units were dismissed from the call. No injuries were reported.
OSHA Inspections:
An establishment search turned up three OSHA inspections for the Nucor plant in Seattle, but none of the incidents were reported to involve combustible dust.
