Incident Description:
On September 25, 2023, WBOY reported a fire at a sawmill in Buckhannon, West Virginia.
The fire broke out in dryer #2 at the plant. Fortunately, it was relatively contained by the time responders arrived, resulting in minimal damage to the building itself.
Emergency crews, including the Buckhannon Fire Department, Warren District Fire Department, Washington District Fire Department, Banks District Fire Department, Elkins Fire Department, and Weston Fire Department, quickly responded to the scene. They had to cut holes in the wall and roof to use a ladder truck for water spray inside to control the fire. The extent of the damages is currently unknown, but a representative from the company praised the rapid and effective response of the emergency crews.
No injuries were reported.
